Lecturers Hold 2-Day Strike at 5 University of California Campuses
Classroom lecturers at the University of California held a two-day strike last week on five campuses, picketing entrances and forcing the cancellation of some classes.
The University of California system employs about 2,500 full- and part-time lecturers. The California Federation of Teachers, which represents the lecturers, estimated that about 55 lecturers would strike on each campus and that about 685 classes would be either canceled or moved off campus.
