Learning-Assessment Specialists to Gather at Group's First Conference

Marsha Watson, director of the Association for the Assessment of Learning in Higher Education, which is holding its inaugural national conference, says that rising demands for accountability mean that assessment must evolve into its own discipline.
The inaugural national conference of the Association for the Assessment of Learning in Higher Education will get under way on Sunday at the University of Kentucky. Approximately 150 people are expected to attend.
The association's executive director, Marsha Watson, and the chair of its board, Robert T. Mundhenk, spoke to The Chronicle on Thursday. Mr. Mundhenk is a visiting scholar at the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central
