Lawyers Top Faculty-Salary List -- Again

Professors of law, financial management, and chemical engineering were the best-paid faculty members in 2001-2, according to a survey released last month by the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources. For the past four years, the top fields have remained the same.

The average salary in all fields was $60,893 at public institutions, a 3.6-percent increase over the prior year, and $60,289 at private colleges, an increase of 3.7 percent.
