Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory Picks a New Director; Editor Takes 'minnesota review' to Pennsylvania; DeVry Inc. Shuffles Its Top Managers
By KENDRA NICHOLS, ISOLDE RAFTERY AND JOSHUA KARLIN-RESNICKNEW LABMASTER: The Stanford University physics professor Steven Chu, 56, has been named director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, which is managed by the University of California and is one of 10 research labs operated by the U.S. Department of Energy. Mr. Chu shared the 1997Nobel Prize in Physics, with Claude Cohen-Tannoudji and William D. Phillips, for developing methods of manipulating atoms
