Lawmakers Seek to Elevate Minority-Health Office at the NIH
Seventy-one members of Congress introduced a bill last week that would elevate a National Institutes of Health office focusing on minority health to the level of a national center -- an idea that aims to give the office greater clout and autonomy, but one that concerns some key N.I.H. officials.
Rep. Jesse L. Jackson, Jr., the chief sponsor of the legislation, said that it would lead to more funds and attention for disease research
