Lawmakers Agree to Increase Pell Grants (Maybe)
Will Congress approve a $500 increase in the maximum Pell Grant for the 2001 fiscal year?
The odds of such an increase appeared to improve last week, when White House and Congressional negotiators agreed to raise the maximum Pell Grant to $3,800, from $3,300, as part of a tentative deal on a bill that would finance the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education.
