Law Students and Public-Interest Jobs
To the Editor:
Jeffrey Selingo's article "'President' Sheen Seeks AmeriCorps Expansion" (November 3) keys in on a central issue in the public-interest legal community today: How can we expect law students, facing $80,000 of academic debt, to accept public-interest jobs that pay on average $31,000 a year? The medical community faced and addressed a similar problem; this now demands the full attention of the legal community.
