Latino Studies and Black Studies: Bonds and Divergent Paths

The U.S. Census Bureau recently released information that confirmed it:

Hispanics have become the largest minority group in the United States, with a total of almost 39 million people. That reflects a faster rate of growth than many observers had expected. Judging by the media coverage, the news is exciting to Latinos, whose time is coming as a defining political and cultural force. Yet it is apparently sending chills in some quarters, not least among them African-American observers.
