STEPPING DOWN: Amid dire predictions of layoffs and a Katrina-caused financial crisis, the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans has announced the resignation of its chancellor, John A. Rock. Dr. Rock declined to give a reason for his resignation, except to note that it was part of a restructuring of the management there.
