LSU Board Unanimously Chooses John Lombardi as System's New President

Louisiana State University’s Board of Supervisors has voted unanimously to accept a search committee’s recommendation and name John V. Lombardi as the university system’s next president. Mr. Lombardi, who is chancellor of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a former president of the University of Florida, is set to start September 1. The LSU system consists of 10 campuses, including two medical schools, and 10 public hospitals.

Mr. Lombardi is known for his outspoken style, and he told the board today that he wanted people to know where he stood, The Times-Picayune, a newspaper in New Orleans, reported. “That’s so I’m not confused, and you’re not confused,” he said. —Karin Fischer
