Knight Commission Starts a New Round of Talks on Reforming College Sports
The Knight Foundation Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics has rejoined the battle over college-sports reform. In a meeting here last month, the panel heard a debate on the Bowl Championship Series and a discussion of the murky finances of college athletics departments.
This is the third incarnation of the commission, which issued influential reports in 1991 and 2001 calling for college presidents to take control of sports and to rein in rampant academic abuses involving athletes,
