Key House Democrat Won't Seek Re-Election
Rep. William L. Clay, the ranking Democrat on the House of Representatives' Education and the Workforce Committee, will not seek re-election next year, aides said last week.
Mr. Clay, 68, has represented a Congressional district in St. Louis for 30 years and has been the top Democrat on the education panel since 1995, when Republicans took control of Congress.
His retirement, which he plans to announce
