Key Governors' Races and Higher Education
The governor's office is up for grabs in 11 states this fall. Highlighted on the map below are the states that will elect a governor in November. In addition, here are some races where the results could play a significant role in the direction of state higher-education policy.
Gov. Mitch Daniels, a Republican, had a bumpy first term. He pitched some unpopular ideas, including that the state observe daylight saving time, and that it lease its tollway to foreign investors.
