Kentucky State U. Settles Lawsuit Over Seized Yearbooks
Kentucky State University has settled a lawsuit filed by two former students over the confiscation of student yearbooks in 1994.
The case, which has been followed closely by groups representing student journalists, involved the campus yearbook, The Thorobred. The university seized 2,000 copies of the yearbook in 1994 after Betty Gibson, then vice president for student affairs, objected to its design, theme, and inclusion of photographs of people and events unrelated to the university.
