Keeping Welfare Recipients From Going to College

As a former welfare recipient who was able to earn the academic credentials necessary to permanently exit poverty (prior to 1996); as the director of the Access Project, a Hamilton College program designed to help others secure employment through education; as a welfare-policy analyst and researcher; and as a citizen concerned about solutions to poverty, I agree with Ellynne M. Bannon in lamenting the passage of House Resolution 4 ("House Passes Welfare Bill With Work
