Keeping Washington Interns Out of Trouble

When Larry Berman began planning a facility for 230 interns just south of Dupont Circle a few years ago, he had no idea their new home would be at ground zero of Washington's biggest scandal since, well, you know who.

After all, that was long before Chandra A. Levy, an intern at the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, disappeared. Now Mr. Berman, the director of the University of California's Washington Center, finds himself explaining to several hundred parents why he's placing their children
