A lawsuit that challenges California State University’s hiring of a former system chancellor as a professor may proceed, a state judge has ruled, according to the Associated Press. The suit, which was filed by the California Faculty Association, asserts that the Cal State board violated the state’s open-meetings law when it held an informational discussion in private about the possibility of hiring Mr. Munitz. The former chancellor was hired in April, just months after he was ousted as head of the J. Paul Getty Trust (The Chronicle, May 1).
