Judge Dismisses Challenge to Columbia Patent on a Biotechnology Technique
Columbia University avoided having one of its controversial biotechnology patents declared invalid and unenforceable by a federal judge this month, but the basis for the decision appears to be a victory for the companies that challenged the patent.
The judge, Mark L. Wolf, of the U.S. District Court in Boston, dismissed the challenge to the patent, issued in 2002, only after Columbia agreed in October that it would not attempt to enforce the patent against the companies in connection
