The first test of Vermont’s anti-hazing law resulted in the dismissal of all charges on Tuesday against four University of Vermont fraternity members who were cited last spring for violating the law at a party where pledges were allegedly mocked as gay, The Burlington Free Press reported. University officials said they were considering appealing the case, which was heard by a judge in the local traffic court, as required by the law. The fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta, remains suspended while the university completes a judicial review of the incident.
