Journals' Prices and Open Access to Scholarly Articles
To the Editor:
I would like to address a number of assertions regarding open access that John H. Ewing makes in "Open Access to Journals Won't Lower Prices" (The Chronicle Review, October 1). He begins his essay by framing the birth of the open-access movement within the context of unhappy librarians and scholars. This is a gross oversimplification of the issue.
