Jolting Messages on Climate Change

The scientific evidence that the earth is getting warmer, and that human activity is at least partly responsible, is overwhelming. Almost no climatologists now dispute the idea that greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are heating up our planet.

Some politicians remain unconvinced, however, including Sen. James M. Inhofe, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, who called global warming "the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people." And
