Johns Hopkins Concludes Campaign That Raised Record $3.7-Billion

The Johns Hopkins University has completed an eight-year campaign that raised $3.74-billion for the university’s medical center, a new business school, and other programs, the university announced yesterday.

The total makes it the largest completed fund-raising campaign in higher-education history, and second over all for the amount of money raised by a university. Stanford University, which is in the midst of a $4.3-billion campaign, has already raised $3.82-billion, according to data collected by The Chronicle.

Medicine was a major beneficiary of the campaign: More than half of the gifts, $2.17-billion worth, went to the university’s hospital, health center, and medical school. —Katherine Masterson
