Job Corps Chief, a Longtime Ally of Community Colleges, to Step Down
A top official at the Labor Department has resigned following cost overruns in its Job Corps program.
In an e-mail sent to department employees this week, Jane Oates, assistant secretary for employment and training administration, said she would leave her post at the end of the month. The message did not mention the program's budget woes, and a spokesman for the agency would not comment on the reasons for her departure.
