Background: Jennifer Gonzalez, who joined The Chronicle of Higher Education in 2009, writes about efforts to meet President Obama’s goal to put the United States atop the world in proportion of college graduates by 2020. She also worked at The Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, N.J. (1996-98) as a suburban reporter covering municipalities and school districts, and at The Miami Herald (1995-96) where she reported on crime, politics, and government for a suburban section.
She has also written for Hispanic Magazine, the Agence-France Presse and Cleveland Magazine.
Gonzalez earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a double-major in English literature from the University of Miami. After graduation, she studied art history and Spanish at the International College of Seville, in Spain. Gonzalez is fluent in Spanish.
