Jeb Bush Gets Honor After All, From U. of Florida Alumni

The University of Florida Alumni Association’s governing board voted today to recognize former Gov. Jeb Bush as an honorary alumnus, a move that at any other time would hardly be worthy of note. But the vote took place two days after the university’s Faculty Senate rejected a proposal to confer an honorary degree on the former governor, a Republican who left office in January after fostering a number of policies that many academics criticized. But the president of the alumni association told the Associated Press that his group’s vote was not related to what the Faculty Senate had done. —Andrew Mytelka
