James Madison U. Athletes Protest at Education Department Against Cuts in the Name of Title IX
Wrestlers in hooded sweatshirts, runners in purple spandex, and swimmers in Speedos — all James Madison University athletes whose teams will be eliminated next year — rallied outside the Department of Education this month to protest the gender-equity law that university officials cited when they announced the cuts this fall.
About 100 James Madison athletes cheered speakers who declared the law — Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 —
