Jack Stripling is a senior reporter for The Chronicle of Higher Education, where he covers college and university leadership.
He has covered higher education for several publications over the past decade. Before joining The Chronicle in 2011, he was a reporter for the online publication Inside Higher Ed. The Education Writers Association honored him in 2004 for his coverage for the Opelika-Auburn News of governance issues at Auburn University and again in 2008 for his work at The Gainesville Sun, where he exposed years of plagiarism in the works of a prominent University of Florida professor. In 2011, the association awarded Mr. Stripling and a team of Chronicle reporters a Special Citation for their coverage of compensation for presidents of private colleges.
Mr. Stripling earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a creative-writing emphasis from Florida State University. He holds a master’s degree in literature from Auburn. He has also taught at the college level, as an adjunct professor of English at Santa Fe Community College, in Florida, and as a graduate teaching assistant at Auburn.
