What is it about college towns that makes them such fitting baby names?

A decade ago you couldn't swing a dead armadillo without hitting a kid named Austin. These days "Charlotte" and "Lincoln" are climbing the charts, and shouting "Madison!" on any American playground could incite a stampede.

If you're an expectant parent who wants to buck the trends, plenty of college towns remain unused as personal names. We offer five that, according to the Social Security Administration, haven't cracked the top 1,000 in the past 20 years:

1. Fargo

2. Missoula

3. Muncie

4. Pullman

5. Wilberforce
