The women’s basketball coach at the University of Nebraska at Kearney gave birth to a baby boy on Monday, and just 5½ hours later, she was courtside as her team took on the University of North Dakota in the NCAA’s Division II tournament. The coach, Carol Russell, said she wanted to surprise her players, who did not expect her to leave her hospital bed, according to the Grand Forks Herald. Despite her inspiring presence, North Dakota won the game, 108-75. For his part, the baby, Isaac by name, chose to remain in the hospital.
