Israel's Right to Defend Itself

To the Editor:

Neve Gordon and Jeff Halper, both Hamas apologists and polemicists — with Gordon from Ben-Gurion University in Beersheba, Israel, where Hamas rockets have reached — have decided to exercise their right of free speech ("Where's the Outrage Now?" The Chronicle Review, January 9).

But they are wrong that Scholars for Peace in the Middle East have not spoken up about Israel's assault on Gaza.
