Israel to Open Arabic Academy
The Israeli government in March approved the creation of the Academy for Arabic Language and Culture, an independent institute that will shape the development of Arabic as Israel's second official language.
The institute, which will have an annual budget of $1.26-million, will be similar to the government-sponsored Academy of the Hebrew Language, which creates guidelines for modern Hebrew usage by official institutions, produces dictionaries of modern terms, and studies language
