Islamic Universities and Social Change
To the Editor:
Western observers view Islamic universities with a mixture of fascination and trepidation. This is reflected to some extent in your article "Islamic Universities Spread Through Africa" (The Chronicle, July 6).
It is not just "a few scholars" who see Islamic universities as "moderate bulwarks against radicalism." ... Doubtless Islamic universities have their flaws, but they have a great deal of potential in developing Islamic legal thought for the present
