Iowa State Restores Misspent Donation
Iowa State University's College of Agriculture has repaid the university's endowment for $205,939 of a donation that, officials admit, had been spent against the donor's wishes.
Jessie V. Coles, a 1915 graduate of Iowa State, bequeathed her family's 285-acre farm to the institution before she died, in 1976. She stipulated that the rent and income from the farm be used to subsidize agriculture research and scholarships.
