Iowa Lawmakers Shine Spotlight on Lending Abuses

Throughout 2007, scandals in the student-loan industry have left policy makers in Washington and prosecutors in New York struggling with questions about fairness in college financing.

Last week in legislative hearings out in the Iowa heartland, state lawmakers demanded answers.

Iowa has become notorious for graduating college students with one of the nation's highest debt loads, and public disgust is starting to force changes at public universities and at the Iowa Student Loan
