Intelligent Design vs. Tenure
Was it antireligious bias when Iowa State took a pass on a scientist with controversial views?
At first glance, it seems like a clear-cut case of discrimination. As an assistant professor of physics and astronomy at Iowa State University, Guillermo Gonzalez has amassed a better publication record than almost any other member of the astronomy faculty. He also happens to publicly support the concept of intelligent design. In April he was denied tenure.
