Intellectualizing the Holocaust
It's a beautiful spring morning -- the first glorious day of a two-week crash course for college teachers at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Banter, wit, and bonhomie are all around, covering our nervous anticipation. It almost seems incidental that we are here to immerse ourselves in the virtual annihilation of European Jewry.
Most outsiders associate the Holocaust museum with the impressive, multistoried permanent exhibit that attracts millions of visitors every year.
