Instructors Went Without Pay at Baltimore City Community College

Part-time faculty members at Baltimore City Community College went for as long as two months without pay or contracts this fall. College administrators said the failure stemmed from problems in the payroll office.

The instructors said the problem was the result of layoffs among workers who process the payroll. The college said it was a “process failure,” according to the Baltimore City Paper.

Administrators said they offered temporary pay on request. They said they planned to examine and rebuild the college’s payroll system. —Anna Weggel
