Instructors' Manners and Support
To the Editor:
I do not believe that community-college instructors in general are as punitive as those Charlotte Laws wrote about ("Danger in the Classroom: the 'Nun With the Ruler' Syndrome Is Rampant," Community Colleges, October 26). Those who are have probably developed these habits through dealing with young people fresh out of high school who believe they will always pass a class despite poor behavior, attendance, and performance.
It is true that transfer levels are down.
