Institute of Medicine Announces 65 New Members
The Institute of Medicine, part of the National Academies, announced on Monday the election of 65 new members, raising its total active membership to 1,538. The institute also elected four foreign associates, bringing the total membership in that category to 84.
One unusual new member this year is a former congressman who was among the leaders in the successful effort to double the National Institutes of Health's budget from 1998 to 2003. After
