Innovative Curriculums Pose Special Challenges

I read with great interest the article on the curricular experiment at the University of Pennsylvania, testing whether an interdisciplinary approach to undergraduate education offers a better learning experience ... than more-traditional approaches do ("Students Become Curricular Guinea Pigs," May 10). ... As dean of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies (more commonly known as the Western College Program, or simply Western) at Miami University, I think about this
