India's Supreme Court Upholds Additional Quotas for Admissions to National Universities

In a major victory for advocates of using quotas to fight the discriminatory effects of India's ancient caste system, India's Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a 2006 law that allots 27 percent of all seats at national public higher-education institutions for poorer members of lower castes and classes.
