Indiana U. to Manage Endowment for American University in Kyrgyzstan
Indiana University has agreed to manage a new, $15-million endowment for American University-Central Asia.
The institution, located in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan's capital, is considered the only American-style university in the impoverished region of Central Asia. The endowment comes from a $10-million donation from the U.S. Agency for International Development and a $5-million gift from the Open Society Institute, a nonprofit group created by the philanthropist George Soros.
