Indiana U. Gets Probation for Violations in Recruiting
The NCAA has placed Indiana University at Bloomington on probation for three years after finding that two men's basketball coaches there had made more than 100 impermissible telephone calls to recruits.
In a report last week, the NCAA's Division I Committee on Infractions said Indiana had exhibited a "failure to monitor" its men's basketball team, one of the country's storied and longtime cleanest programs. The committee came down hard on Kelvin Sampson, Indiana's former head coach,
