India Scales Back Engineering Seats
Students seeking engineering degrees in India are about to face tougher competition. A government regulatory agency has cut 6,365 seats from the country's engineering colleges, starting this fall, because a number of institutions failed to meet minimum academic standards.
The All India Council for Technical Education this month eliminated 22,722 seats at more than 300 colleges because, it said, the institutions had too few faculty members, failed to meet infrastructure requirements,
