In the Minority in Graduate School

Just imagine that you are the only student of color in your graduate course on assessing adults' psychological health, and your professor remarks that people of color are more likely than whites to behave in deviant ways.

Then imagine how you might feel if, on your return from a multicultural conference, you tell a fellow student that it was a wonderful experience, and the other student assumes you are specializing in diversity issues.
