In an Emperor's Garden, Scholars Come to Study All Things Ethiopian
Tucked away in the heart of the University of Addis Ababa's busy campus are the pleasantly overgrown gardens of the late Emperor Haile Selassie. Here, students curl up to study on carved stone benches or beneath shady trees. At the front of the gardens is a free-standing spiral staircase that climbs to nowhere. A small stone lion, his paws regally crossed, graces the top step.
