In Search of a Prescription to Cure the Problems of Medical Schools

T.V. Rajan's "Making Medical Education Relevant" (The Chronicle Review, January 13) clearly misses several important points.
Comprehensive medical centers such as his are working on a financial razor's edge. ... Patient care is the primary source of revenue. Teaching residents and medical students in the clinic or classroom slows down the attending physician and negatively affects the balance sheet.
