In Global Competition for Students, Canada Makes Gains

More than 40 Canadian universities and higher-education groups were in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for a recent student-recruitment fair. Canada hopes to build on its success in attracting holders of King Abdullah scholarships, which support Saudi students studying abroad.

When 15 Canadian university presidents visited India last November, they were both the largest group of Canadian presidents to travel abroad together and the biggest higher-education delegation from any country to be received by the Indian government, according to Canadian and Indian officials.
During the one-week trip to New Delhi, the presidents and Canadian government representatives announced $3.6-million in fellowships for Indian students to study in Canada and pledged support
