NEW FEDERAL POST: The Education Department has elevated its community-college-liaison post to a senior-level position and named a former Maryland college president to fill the job. Patricia Stanley, a former president of Frederick Community College, was sworn in last month as deputy assistant secretary of education for community colleges.
