ARTS SPENDING: The Senate Appropriations Committee has approved a bill that would provide an additional $5-million each for the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts in the 2006 fiscal year. The new money would bring the budgets for the two agencies to $143-million and $126-million, respectively. The House of Representatives passed a measure calling for a $5-million increase for the humanities endowment and a $10-million increase for the arts endowment.
